DVD Decoder?

I've recently got PCFriendly. I've also got WINDVD disc ready to load. Apparently WINDVD is a DVD decoder. Is this right and do I need it.

I'm in the UK. Not really sure what a decoder does.

A DVD decoder is just a bit of software that allows you to play DVD films on your computer (as long as it has a DVD drive).

fitshase is dead right about DVD decoders and you most certainly need one, as well as a DVD drive, to be able to play DVDs on your computer.

As you were curious as to what a DVD decoder does, doe you know what PCfriendly does? If not click here
