DVD Decoder?

  MuddyPaws77 15:20 11 Sep 04

Just got a new PC & I'm having problems configuring it to play DVDs. It trys to play them through media player, but displays the following error message:

A compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

Error ID = 0xC00D116D, Remedy ID = 0x00000000>>

I'm running Windows XP.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance!

You need a hardware or software decoder (software available includes PowerDVD).

Also ensure that DVD is enabled from Tools>Options>File Types. I enable all types.

As Stuartli mentioned, install PowerDVD.

A friend bought a new laptop & had the same problem. I happened to have a spare copy of PowerDVD that came with a DVD burner, so I gave him that - problem solved.
