DVD blank disc compatability : how to tell?

I have a new computer for a couple of months and time to try burning some DVDs. It is a fujitsu Scaleo T, with a DVD drive described as HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4160B in Device Manager.
Any suggestions as to how to work out which DVDs are going to be compatable with this DVD burner? company and manual pretty hopeless re info : only comment is in manual : "use DVD-R or DVD+RW only", but supplied manual was written over 18 months ago, according to file date, and is generic to company not the computer or drive!
Thanks!

I don't know the drive but if it says DVD-R then go for those. These are disks you can only burn once, and are the - as opposed to +. Just different formats that are available. They are cheaply obtainable all over the web. click here for a good choice.

The drive you have is made by LG and it is dual layer, it should burn just about everything.

Hi John, got your e-mail for further info. If you put the model number into Google it gives plenty of good sites.
