Duel Core Processing - how important?

  JonSon 16:59 20 Sep 05

I've been reading lots recently about duel core processing potential and was wondering how important it was to buy a system that has this kind of capability.

Does anyone know what the benefits of duel core are over the conventional processor setups?

Secondly, if I were to buy a system that wasn't duel core compatable, am I effectively relegating my purchase to the scrap heap in 18 - 24mths if and when duel core becomes the norm.

Thanks in advance guys.

That's an extremely interesting article, thanks.

I suppose the main take away from it, is: when will duel core funcionality become the norm and required to run the latest programmes?

Software specifically designed to take advantage of dual core functionality is beginning to be available at the top end of the market.

Unless you are making very heavy use of the processor, most of us will never manage to make our processor sweat, it is likely to be a totally useless development for the next few years.
