dual booting ubuntu

hi I would like to use ubuntu 10.10 as my operating system but ive still got stuff that only works on windows so I was wondering if any one will tell me how to successfully install ubuntu 10.10 to dual boot with XP

A straight install on a separate partition or hard drive, and Ubuntu should find XP and dual boot automatically.

Or you can install Ubuntu within Windows by using Wubi.

Or you can install Ubuntu completely on its own partition or hard drive (writing the MBR to that drive) and use a third party boot manager to find both systems.

I use a hard drive caddy, which just slots into the PC, so I can have Ubuntu on a different HD and change over in a few seconds.
