Dual Boot Config

Recently, I successfully created a dual boot system with Ubuntu 6.06 and Windows XP as the OS choices. When I installed, I assumed that I would be able to make a simple choice from the two OSes, but this isn't the case. On the OS select menu, there are 6 choices: Ubuntu, Ubuntu (Recovery mode), Ubuntu mem. test, a duplicate of the 1st option, a duplicate of the 2nd, and Windows XP Home Edition. The 1st highlighted option is selected automatically after 10 seconds.

This is fine with me, but my parents are complaining about the complexity of starting up the computer. Is there any way that I can change the order of the menu choices, or change the auto select timeout?

Thanks in advance,
