Dropped External Drive

  aidanone 14:47 24 Dec 07

I have dropped my external drive and now my pc cannot read the files saved on it.

When i try to access the files it cannot read it and asks to format the drive.

Does anyone know of a program that i can run to access the files.

It is a simple USB connected drive.

If Windoze cannot read it then any program you run will not either I guess.
You can but try though
A free download PCInspector.
Download it install it and see what happens
It will ask you to select a source.
Then a destination
then click proceed.
It is is intended to detect accidentally deleted files or a fresh reformat.
But from what you hint at - if the drive is damaged.
Then I guess there is little be be done.

Not quite true...:-)

There are ways and means to get data off storage media, even though it might be considerably damaged, although it might be necessary to use a specialist.

Depending on how vital the data is depends on the action you will need to take.

There's a number of freeware data recovery offerings on websites such as MajorGeeks:
