DRM errors in Windows Media Player

and in Real Player too....I used to have no trouble downloading licenses for music files, but now whenever I try to play a DRM protected file, the player simply stops working, and the message is: 'Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and must close' Real Player shows same message....the Microsoft help FAQs has no reference to such an error..I've reinstalled the player and run virus checks to no avail.the players work fine when asked to play my own stuff..has anyone any ideas on where to look for the answer to this?
