recently installed LG combo drive as slave to existing Samsung CD-Rom drive.(Windows ME) It appears on the boot-up screen, on system info and even on the old-style Winfile, but not on My Computer or Windows Explorer. It is working well - plays DVD's, CD's, records CD-R's, but I can't use the CD-RW facility because the programs don't recognise it. How do I get the drive listed on My Computer and Explorer, please?

1. Open Command Prompt.

2. Type: diskpart

3. At the DISKPART prompt, type: Rescan

It sometimes works.

Had a similar problem after using TweakUI, If you have used this open it up and look under My Computer then Drives and make sure that you have a tick against the drive letter of your LG combo drive. Leaving a drive unticked that is in use seems to cause part of the operating system etc to see it and other parts not to.
