Drivers

I run windows XP SP3 and my computer is three years old. Is it important to update drivers? Some time ago I had a problem and downloaded Driver Detective, but when I tried to use it again recently it kept shutting down. I searched on Google and discovered that every site that offers free driver updates eventually leads to Driver Detective. How essential is it to update?

"How essential is it to update?"

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

The best place for driver updates, if required, is from the websites of the manufacturers of the devices involved.

However, there's also DriverMax:

which has proved useful in the past.

If you give your system a checkup with PCPitStop, it will advise afterwards of any drivers that require updating and provide links.

Only allow the genuine PCPitStop cookie as this is required to run the tests and retain any results for future checks and comparisons.

You could also install the FileHippo Update Checker from:

click here (top right of screen for link)

for software updates.
