I just installed the latest forceware driver as directed bu the Nvidia website, and now I can't play any movies. The screen is black with real faint red outlies of the movies.

I have a GeForce 7600GT

any ideas?

Did you completely un-install the 'old' driver first?

Ah that may be it! No I didn't - as in not at all. Is there a correct way to uninstall the last driver? Seeing as now i've put this new one in. Will a system restore point be ok as I made one before I tinkered.

You should download the update and save it to your Desktop.

You then uninstall the existing driver (via Add/Remove Programs) and reboot the PC. You will then be in VGA resolution. Then double click on the downloaded driver to install it. Once it has finished installing do the following:

• Right click on a blank portion of your Desktop.
• Select 'properties'.
• On the tab at the top click on 'settings'.
• Select your preferred screen resolution i.e. 1280 x 1024 or lower.
• Select the Colour Quality i.e. Highest 32 Bit.
• Select 'Advanced'.

You will then have the NVidia controls to set to your personal preferences.

I'm at work now so i'll try that when I get home. Curiously, it still allowed me to play games last night, but not vids.
