Drive D will not accept disc

Can somebody please tell me why everytime I put a disc in Drive D I get the message `Please insert a disc into Drive D`

CAn you see the contents of the CD in explorer?

You may need to uninstall and reinstall the drivers in device manager.

Just double click the downloaded file to run it.

But I doubt if it will solve your problem

No nothing in Explorer. Did check in Device manager No problems anywhere. Having said that a yellow `flag` against USB

No, the drive is internal.

In device manager right click your drive and select uninstall.

then click Action - scan for new hardware

XP will find and reinstall the drivers for the DVD

If this doesn't work the open the case an chek cables are fully insrt at DVD and motherboard end.

If still no good the possibly DVD read laser is kaput and you will need a new DVD approx £30 for a DVD rewriter.
