Dreamweaver Text entry - Carriage Return (CR)

Why is it in Dreamweaver if you are composing new text and press the CR key the entry cursor goes down 2 lines rather than one line? Is there any way to force it to go down one line. I'm sure this must be possible!

I don't know I think but maybe paragraph/line spacing?

Shift + Enter/Return

Dreamweaver is not a word processor, it’s a highly developed web page creation tool that gives WYSIWYG representation of how a browser will display the page.

When entering text, pressing the return key marks up the text with p tags. If you don’t want to mark up the text with p tags don’t press the return key!

Shift + enter inserts a break tag.

You can alter the default paragraph spacing with CSS.
