drag and drop to dvd?

I'm trying to use Windows Explorer (XP) to copy some files onto a dvd +rw (supported by my NEC dvd rw drive). However, I get the message that the disc is either full or not writable. Do I have to buy some dvd burning software to format the discs first?

You have to have suitable software up and running that supports that function.

Did the NEC drive not come with software?

I've got something called Power DVD, Intervideo WinRip/Producer/DVD but they don't appear to be burning software.

on the CD ROM. Often, a program is included. If in doubt, take a look at the inevitable Help File!

None of the above seem relevant. I guess I'll have to buy Nero or some such s/ware.

and then if you like it, buy the licence and release key!

I thoroughly recommend it.

Didn't see your message until this morning, by which time I had bought Easy DVD Creator! Thanks, anyway.
