Hi I have a linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G and i am with BT.

My problem is the downstream rate. If i reset the modem i get the following..

DSL Status: Up
DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 2592 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 8 db
Upstream Margin: 19 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 49
Upstream Line Attenuation: 31
Downstream Transmit Power: 0
Upstream Transmit Power: 0

PVC Connection

Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA
Multiplexing: VC
QoS: UBR
PCR Rate: 0
SCR Rate: 0
Autodetect: Disable
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
Enable: Yes
PVC Status: Applied

Now after about 3 days the Downstream Rate goes to 448 and stays there making my expierence of the internet frustrating.

Any ideas? I have complained to BT about my download speed so i hope they havent capped something..

Sam knows states

You are approximately 2.40km from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!

Anyone have any ideas?

to add more info, i think its all about my IP profile. Seems to be at 350k over the last few days.

That seems really low.

Any experts on IP profiles?

I've had a drop in my sync speeds from 740/8124 to around 25 per cent of those figures since late Friday night.

After various unsuccessful ruses with the modem router (reinstalled firmware) and a bit of reading up on such websites as:

I remembered this morning that I had a spare, unused ADSL filter, one of two that came with a Speedtouch 330.

I swapped it for the Master Socket's filter and was pleased to discover that everything was back to normal.

The filter replaced has been in use for about three years.....:-)

Sync speeds drop should read to "about 75 per cent" of those figures...
