Downloading transfer rate alters drastically

Hi can anybody explain why when I try to download something for example a programme tonight started at 20kb/sec and and a time of a few mins and quickly dropped to 2.51kb/sec and a time of 35 mins I am on dialup surftime 98se

download speed is normally determind by the server on the site you are visiting.It can start fast and then slow down.This is why you will get different download speeds on different sites

click here and run it. It will give you an idea of your download speed and if poor will recommend a cure. Check again the next day and it will be more or less the same. At least you're know it's not you.
