Downloading in Internet Explorer

At times when I try to download anything instead of the page opening to download and getting the download box, in the left hand corner of explorer I get this symbol of a hard drive (ie assume it means this) and a red arrow and it says done. What does this mean because at times all it does is this and I can't download. I even press the download click on the web page but still get this symbol and says done.

What operating system are you using?

Do you have security settings set too high?

What sort of downloads - eg, exe files, mpegs etc? One type or all types?

If you have SP2 installed XP might be blocking the downlaod. Check for a new line under the address bar at the top of IE and see if it tells you anything.
