downloaded pdf files

I have down loaded pdf files from the internet, but can't find how to access them so that I can read them.

Version 6.0 is best, but a large download (16 Mbytes) Should be widely available on cover disks.

Right click the PDF file and select OPEN then adobe acrobat will open it for you.

When I download either PDF files or MP3 (and possibly some others) all I get is a page or more of code in an IE6 window. Cannot do anything with it. Any advice please. Cannot even save them as PDF and use with Reader; they insist on being saved as HTML etc and of course Reader wont deal with them.
