How fast would i be able to download if i was connected to a standard 802.11g router?

Or even an 802.11n router?

Thanx in advance.

Your download speed is dependent upon your broadband connection speed, the quality of your 'phone line and the distance you are away from the exchange. I have a 2Mb connection, but usually achieve around 1.7Mb download speed through my modem router.

I thing the g does up to 54Mb/s, but being as the fastest B/B I've heard of is 'Up to 20Mb' thats pretty academic, and that is only available in certain areas and through certain providers. As Kestrel says, your d/l speed is dependent on many other factors.

i did the online speed test and it said 1923 kb/s

If that is from a 2Mb connection, you are doing very well. If you are on a 8Mb max. connection that's pretty slow!

so what?

Why do you bother posting on a forum like this when you send curt replies like that above to people who try to answer your question! If you really want help, it would be useful to know what your connection speed is stated to be by your ISP. Someone then may be able to tell you whether your speed test result is within normal expectations for your connection..

If you are using the Tiscali speed test website you can't get a true reading, mine ranged from 1,234kb/ps to over 43,642,173kb/ps and i think that those figures are a load of bull to put it bluntly.
