Download speed problem

  ooermrs 17:52 15 Nov 06

For the last week or so, when downloading files or music from the internet it will only download at speeds of 23kb/s or lower. I've tried with bit tornado, ares and utorrent, all with the same results. Before then i was getting speeds of nearly 200kb/s. I've checked my line speed and it's still the same, 1.6Mbps. Any ideas on whats gone wrong and how it can be returned ?

Who's your ISP? Sounds like they're throttling your connection.

My ISP is supanet.

I've had a dig around and it looks like they were accused of throttling but this was a couple of years ago. Which product are you on, you've not exceeded any usage restrictions?

Thanks for that Dipso. I'm on up to 8meg unlimited download, upgraded from the 512 unlimited about 6 weeks ago.

So when you say you've checked your line speed and it's 1.6Mbps do you mean that's the sync/connection speed or is that the speed you get from a speed test.

Its the result of a speed test. How would i go about finding out the sync/connection speed ?

  Dipso 21:50 15 Nov 06

You can get it from your modem/router stats. click here

  ooermrs 21:58 15 Nov 06

Thanks. The stats are comming back saying the data rate is 1856 downstream and 448 upstream.

  Dipso 22:00 15 Nov 06

What is the downstream attenuation?
