Hi all,

A few days ago I hijacked someone elses thread at click here and as you will see reported an 'all's well'.

However, that sucess lasted but one brief visit to the internet and now my problem is back same as ever.....

I have 1 PC, a recent build running Win ME, wireless networked with a geriatric notebook running 98se, sharing a dialup connection.

If I try on either 'puter I can:

a)Connect and surf the internet with no visible problems.

b) download Windows Service Packs and critical updates.

c) download videos as normal.

I can't:

a) Download driver and other updates from the Windows site.

b) Download any .exe files.

c) Enter click here (get window with all the graphics but blank grey box in the middle.

I have:

a)Checked all settings as per previous post.

b) Been emailed and reinstalled microsoft Java Virtual machine.

c) Been unable to download automatically or manually from click here

d) Rebooted a 1000 times.

I have just been to tucows and tried a random selection of downloads to confirm problem.

Download seems to start to the tune of a few bytes and then stops (doesn't hang, I can still close the window) completely.

IE6 sttings heading from medium secure to the suicidal to see if that works but no go.

Sorry for lengthy tedious post, any help really very greatfully recieved.

Many thanks, Epirb.

Have you checked the Java settings in the Advanced tab from Internet Options?

If I remember rightly, no.

Under Microsoft VM, only the last box is checked - at least in my case...:-)
