Downgrading XP Pro to XP Home

I have XP Pro on my PC and want to go back to XP Home. I have the disk for XP Home so what do I have to do. I popped the cd in and rebooted and it asked me if I wanted to repair or install but it said there was an OS already installed, which would be XP Pro.

I don't want to keep any of my work as I have backed it all up, I just want to start from scratch

Hope you can help

you should format the hard drive first to wipe the previous operating system. the xp home disk should have that option when you load the disk up. if it doesnt you can download bootdisk from and use the fdisk facility.

According to the MS Windows XP Setup instructions (it's on the installation CD) you can install XP home Edition on PCs that are running Windows XP Professional.
