i currently have a dodgy version of windows xp professional sp2 and it looks like i am going to have to buy a legitimate copy. will i have to buy the professional again or is the home version just as good? and is it possible to downgrade from professional to home without losing any info? i got 4 days left to sort this out!!!!

yeah but you just said i couldnt install that if i got pro???
theres a genuine windows advantage kit for £92 has anyone bought one of these?

Well you can't copy straight over it. More cost effective to buy XP Home at £60 and pay someone to install it and keep all your documents?

It's worth a try, it may end up being the least expensive route. You just need to ring Microsoft to confirm that it will solve the problem and allow you to activate.

If you phone Microsoft and explain that you have an illegal copy of XP pro and want to go legit they will talk you through the process. They will give you a legal key and will send you a CD through the post. Cost £92.
