dos 6 won't recognize hard disk

I've been trying to get a few older games to run (elite2 and xwing) but they really need to start from a boot disk. Trouble is, dos 6 won't recognize my 9gig drive (I think it might have trouble with drives over 1gig). I've already tried dosbox and neither will go. Is there any kind of patch for dos 6 for this?

(weary retro gamer...)

I suspect MSDOS 6 will not recognize your 9Gig drive because its a FAT32 Volume. You need to create a FAT Volume on your machine.

Have you tried a Windows 98 boot disk? If you do not have one goto click here to create one. Then you can remove the programs you do not need and add the ones you do need.
