Just wondered what the best company was to register a cheaply, without necessarily having to host it with webspace bought from that company.

I use 1&1.

You can just choose the 'instant domain' option.

1&1 look very good, I have seen a few ads in PC Advisor, flick through the lastes copy, it's near the front, hope that helped.

OK, thanks for your advice.

1&1 had a few administration problems about a couple of years ago, but all seems well now. I have a number of domains and a couple of packages with them, and so far after about four/five years, never had anything to really complain about.

djbenny - thanks, I didn't know it was possible to get .org, .com, .net, etc domains so cheaply - thanks for the link. I want this time, but will soon need to renew a .org so might transfer it to

Just wondering... why are .com/org/net so much more expensive than .uk domains?

I use UK REG click here

Its £2.95 per year for a / /

I think thats cheap

UK Reg is much better than 1&1, in many people's eyes. However, I don't think, with domains at least, you will see much difference between 1&1 and UK Reg.
