Domain Name Expired

I have found a domain name that I would like to purchase.

Better still the domain name has expired on 18-March-2006.

However I can't purchase it. It's still considered to be unavailable. Is there a period of time that allows the owner to buy it back?

If not how can get in there and grab it?

are put 'on hold', usually for a minimum period of 30 days after the expiry date, but often for longer. Sometimes names are on hold for months.

This gives the previous name holder a chance to buy the registration back if he/she wishes to do that, and during the hold period you cannot "get in there and grab it". You'll have to wait.

At the end of an on hold period a delete command is issued, and the name registration is deleted all over the world. This process usually takes a couple of days, but can take up to a week.

thanks Forum Editor.

I suppose I'll just have to sit tight for a while then!

If this name is - or will be - valuable to you, you might want to grab one or two variations of it in the meantime, just in case.
