Dolby Digital DVDs

Am I right in thinking that Dolby Digital DVDs are not compatible with Dolby Pro Logic surround sound?

I have just replaced a Schneider DVD 855 with a Schneider DVD 1003 but neither will give surround sound through a Pro Logic Amp.

the dvd will have a stereo soundtrack on it

the pro logic sound is extracted from this.

That is what I expected, BUT it doesn't.

What soundcard is in use?

how is it connected to the amp?

have you selected pro logic on the amp?

im thinking this is a home player yeah? not pc

using phonos to connect to the amp then make sure they are connected to the stereo out on the dvd player and not the left and right from the 6ch phono outs if you have them.

if your pro logic amp has 6ch rca in conectors and so does the dvd player, use these and you will get DD(most newer pro logic amps have these conectors) although it will bypass the tone controls.

if the dvd disc has an option for soundtrack select then select pca stereo

It doesn't go through the PC, it is a normal Standalone DVD Player through the Pro Logic Amp. It works with Video Tape but not with DVDs.
