Does XP upgrade mean reloading ME?

Some years ago I gave my old computer to my equally old dad (He's 92). When I bought it, the computer ran ME, but I upgraded it to XP Home, and then subsequently to XP SP2.

The machine has now got so slow and unreliable that I think it's time to do a full reformat and reload Windows.

My question is this: do I have to start right at the beginning and reload ME, then the XP upgrade, then the SP2 upgrade? Or can I just reload XP and will the installer then ask me for the original ME product key?

Thanks for any advice.

yes all you need to do is enter the ME serial key when asked.

That's saved me some time!

Much obliged.
