Does this work for cracking WEP?

Hello, I am just wondering if this adaptor will actually work? click here

I am considering getting it as I want to experiment with my own network to improve my networking skills.

Does anyone have an AirPcap adaptor? and if so, how are you getting on with it?

you try it and then let us all know

This sounds iffy to me !!!

Why would you want to crack your own WEP key...if you think its unsafe..use WPA1/wpa2...etc

  woodchip 13:39 12 Mar 09

As skidzy, also WPA is the one to use not Wep

Never heard of it myself, a bit dodgy looking.
As skidzy says why would you want to crack your own WEP key?
IMO a four year old could crack a WEP key anyway!

Use WPA, WPA1 or WPA2 far more secure.

It really is a good idea to stay away from WEP!
you might as well input something like 'password'
the security really that bad using WEP.

The picture on e-bay looks an awfully like a Belkin USB wireless adaptor with a different label stuck on it to me ?

also the software mentioned which allegedly is what does the cracking is freely available on the internet

Cheers HC
