ive just used Partition Magic 8 to delete a partition which i no longer needed. Now i have a 12Gb Hard Drive & this is the problem:

C:WINDOWS

Capacity:3.66GB
Used:2.28GB
Free:1.38GB

D:EXTRAS

Capacity:2.38GB
Used:1.70GB
Free:693MB

Now the problem is both them added together are not 12GB! Am i missing a chunck of my hard drive or is windows not recognising it?

Oh and as far as i am aware im using FAT32

My OS is Windows 98SE also

im not actually familiaar with part magic but not many folk here tonight, so just a thought - have you rebooted since then yet?

open PM and view the hard drive in there, you may have unallocated space, which windows doesn't see.

if that is the case you can re allocate to either/both partitions.

ok thanks again mate!

  Mad Boy 01:33 11 May 03

how do i re allocate it?

  crx1600 01:37 11 May 03

you can resize(increase) your remaining partitions.

when deleting the partition you may of had the option of where to allocate the space, but that was then.

it just has this:

WINDOWS C:-------------UNALLOCATED-------------EXTRAS D:

so how do i remove the allocated space?

  crx1600 01:47 11 May 03

you dont 'remove' it.

you increase partitions C & D,and they will 'use it up' as i said before.

oh sorry, mis understood.
