Windows Installer and Windows Update files

These two files are using up 24.2MB on my hard drive. If they are used only to install and update do I need to keep them on my hard drive.
I seem to remember being asked to install them at some time or other so feel I could probably delete them but would like expert opinion first. I have windows98.

You do not say what the filenames are or where they are located but if they are 2 installation files that you have used to install a program from then you can probably remove them. I would suggest copying them to CD so you can use them again at a later date. If you are unsure about deleting them, rename them first. If no application complains that it can't find the files then you should be okay to delete them, if not, rename them back again.

I'd better add that if they are system files then obviously don't rename them!
