Do I need firewall/virus scan

Hi,Do I need firewall and Virus scan on both my P.Cs Or will the One with the router connected cover both?
Also I can not Connect the wireless (Upstairs)P.C. Unless I disable Encryption/Security On the router Setup page!! I see on the 'choose a connection page'Everyone ..On the street.. is secured except us.Sorry to be a pain in the butt.Just worried about people looking at personal Files Etc.Thanks in advance.Tracy

Your router will have a hardware firewall, a software firewall on your machines will provide additional security, yes you do need AV on each/every machine. Encryption; make a note of the encryption method the router is using (WEP/WPA/WPA2) and set your PC's network connection to use the same method. WPA2 or WPA recommended if your system supports it, WEP is not very secure but better than nothing at all.

And make sure the encryption key/passwords match on the router and PC, they are case-sensitive.
