Do I have a faulty modem?? (D-Link DSL 300+G)

Help me please,

I am on AOL Broadband, and want to use the d-link (DSL 300+ G) modem to connect on. I have set it up as per the settings below, restarted the modem, pressed the connect button but all I get is an error report saying 'physical line fault.' I have also changed all the cables but still get the same report. But when I go back to my USB modem using the same phone line cable everything works fine, so is my modem at fault or have I made a mistake?

Connection type: PPPoA
Encapsulation: LLC
Username: My aol account details
Password: as above
authentication: chap
connect on demand: enabled
idle time: 0

Hope some one can help me

I had a D LInk 200 so i don't know if your modem is the same but your encapsulation setting looks wrong you have to change these setting for AOL to work with this modem and you won't get any help
from AOL they prefer you to use supported modems
IE BT Voyager 100 ect.

I will mess with the settings and try that.

Thanks, Madpad

i have tried changing the settings but still no joy.

In the connection box it says'phsyical line error'

to me this means the phone line, or am i going off on the wrong path.
