Speedtouch 576 router SafeCom network adapaters Windows 98 SE and windows XP.

Bit of History..

1. Using the windowes 98 SE machine , and router, set up wired broadband (AOL) everything worked fine.
2. Introduced the adapter and configured for wireless (adapter can see network) but kept on getting a DNS unreachable error (15 hours aol help no soloution).
3. Used the xp machine with adapter connected ok everything fine - then when and tried the windows 98 machine - you guessed suddenly it worked - marvelous.
4 However, every so often i an getting the dns error on the windows 98 se machine - this occurs sometimes when i first try to connect and even in the middle of a connection. Checked adapter and can still see the network (strength ok) check the router cannot see the windows 98 se machine connected.
5. Any ideas how to resolve this problem - aol help crap

Flush the DNS in XP first and see what happens. Win98 has no DNS cache to flush.

from a run command type ipconfig /flushdns

Try allocating AOL's DNS Server addresses as *fixed* addresses in the TCP/IP settings of the network adapters. These are three of their DNS servers:

64.12.51.132

205.188.157.232

149.174.211.8
