DLLs - can I find out what programs use a dll?

  JCT 12:49 22 Mar 04

I know there are programs which will identify DLLs that are being used by a running process, but is there any way of working in reverse?

What I want to do is to start with the name of a dll, and find out what programs invoke it.

Any ideas?

You can try Process Explorer or Dependency Walker.

This database contains information about DLL files that ship with selected Microsoft products.

DLL Help exists to assist developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals who face file version conflicts with Microsoft software. Use DLL Help to identify which software installed a specific version of a DLL.

NOTE This tool does NOT provide direct links to download the files listed in the database. DLL files are generally not available for download from Microsoft. To find downloadable files, try the Download area. For help using the tool, click Help/FAQ below.
