DLL Instalization

For the past week on startup I am receiving this message:
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:/Windows/system32/command.com
C:/PROGRA~1/Symantec/S32EVENT1.DLL
An instable Virtual Device Driver failed DLL instalization. Choose 'Close' to terminate application.
There is then a choice to either close or ignore.
Have I lost something somewhere?

Reload your Norton Product over its self

I guess I caused the problem when I deleted Norton! I am running with Avast now. Thanks Santos7 for your resonse. I don't like messing with the registry so was hoping for a simpler solution!

Then you need to Go to Services in Control Panel and disable Norton You also need to remove all Norton Bits and Bobs. Check MSCONFIG from the Run Box to see if you still have Norton in the Startup list if so remove the tick from the box

I downloaded the Norton removal tool then re-installed Norton 2007. I activated the removal tool, removed Norton and rebooted. So far so good, no sign of the original problem which prompted me to ask help from the forum. Thanks to all of you who assisted me with the problem.
