display says out of timing

help all of a sudden my flat sceenwent black
when i rebooted the display as squashed
i rebooted again and the display was black and showed OUT OF TIMING so a few secondsand went of the on off ligh t also went to amber its normally green when on
i put my old crt screen on and the display was there but squashed
i adjusted the screen setting to get loking normal

anybody had this before
is it my graphics card radeon 250 amd 1.7 igb ram
i tried with win98 on one hard drive and xp on another

Check the refresh rate (on your CRT) - and set it to 60Hz, which is the correct setting for LCD screens. Too high will give you *out of range* type errors.

It would help if you let us know the size of your flat screen.

In the meantime try the following:-

(a) Right click on a blank part of the desktop.

(b) Click on properties.

(c) Click on Settings, then set the resolution to
1280 X 1024.

(d) Click on Advanced > Monitor, then make sure the refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz.

Then Click OK, on next screen click OK again.

The screen should now be OK depending on the size of your Flatscreen.
