Display problems

I've bought a new computer & I've given my old one to my daughter. I set it up for her yesterday & all seemed well, but she asked me to install software for her which entailed loading DirectX8. When we used the programme we discovered that part of a 'text' block was missing. (You should be able to see information etc. on the screen but it's off-centre and only part of it is visible.) I tried changing screen size and colour settings but nothing worked. any ideas?

Have you tried adjusting the osd ? Depending on your monitor there will be a facility to adjust the geometry of your monitor horizontal / vertical size etc

Thanks, krypt1c, but the other parts of the program seem to be OK. The problem is hard to describe so I may be giving the wrong 'picture' of it!! Also, I'll have to wait until the next time I visit her before I trying out any adjustments.(She's new to computers so it's no use telling her what to do.)
