Display drivers

I have tried to update an old Pentium 166 computer to Win 98 and although it has loaded OK and all works I am limited to a display of only 16 colours and resolution of 640 x 480. This means that most programs won't display properly.
The computer has an integrated display chipset SiS 5596 PCI, memory and VGA controller. I have searched for new drivers but windows tells me that the current default drivers are best for the job. What step am I missing? Can I use other drivers or does it need something else.

Thanx for those. I already had the drivers downloaded but could not get them installed.
I have finally managed it by deleting the adapter from device manager in Safe Mode and restarting to find it again. For the moment all is well.
