Run scandisk, and check your memory/cpu.

If that fails, back up any important information and look to a new hard drive.

sorry xp pro isnt that what diskeeper does?

Nope. Diskeeper defragments the drive, you need to run chkdsk to check the drive for errors.

  johnnyrocker 23:20 22 Apr 04

how please? cos the last time i ran that it found/replaced 200 files and three days later i had a massive outage resulting in processor replacement and memory.

Probably the best way is Start, Run, type in

cmd

and click OK.

Then at the command prompt type in

chkdsk

and press enter.

does it require the xp disk?
