"This Disk Is Write-Protected" - Any Help?

  The Turner 15:58 26 Sep 04

I have been trying to copy a few files from my documents onto a CD-RW.

Every time I attempt to paste the folder onto the disc before writing it, it comes up with the following error message:
"Error copying file or folder
This disk is write-protected
Remove the write-protection or use another disk"

I have tried it with different individual files and folders and I still had the same problem. I have also tried using a vareity of different makes of CD-RW, all of which encountered the same problem, so I don't think its a problem with the Disks.

Has anybody got any ideas about how to solve this problem please?

You did not say which programs you are using for the copy process.
Try a right click on the drive symbol or in the
program itself to see if theere is a protect feature to turn off

to send files directly to the CDRW drive you would need to have either windowsXP or a suitable writing program such as IN CD which i think is part of either Nero or Easy CD Creator.

it may be possible that the cdrw needs formatting before use.

I am using windows XP to transfer the files. They are all very small files and so will fit onto the CD-RW. I am able to write files through a separate program 'Instant CD Suite', and can then read the files. The CD-RWs that I tried are all formatted.

All in all, I still can't get it to work normally through wndows XP.

Thanks for your help anyway!
