Restart in Safe Mode and then do a System Restore back to yesterday or before.

Hi, i cant seem to be able access safe mode by pressing F8, I can get into the bios settings but not safe mode.

Are you repeatedly pressing it, not holding F8 down?

Go into BIOS and check that BIOS is detecting your hard drive?

A disk read error usually means windows can not read the drive correctly and you may need to an repair of the drive using chkdsk /r.

What operating system?

Hi yes i have been repeatedly pressing F8 still no joy to get into safe mode. Anyways I actually got it working again now. I Inserted my xp cd and Selected the Repair bit, and when in the black screen bit with C: i entered CHKDSK /R and let it go through the processes, and it eventually it fixed a problem and i am up and running again.

Thanks for your replies by the way.

As per above Disc Error is Just That, It cannot read the bit it's looking at on the drive. If you can get to Safe Mode Do a Disc Check. If not download click here there are disc tools on the download that you can use for to check the disc
