I presume you mean your CD/DVD drive?

Have you looked in Device Manager, to see whether the drive is reported as working properly?

Have you tried going to my computer and accessing disk from there?

Will help us to resolve the issue
Tell us about the computer- make, type age.
What type of disk is it 'not reading' or os it any disk.

The more basic information you give the more we will help to resolve the issue

The computer is a DELL which is about 3-4 years old .
It doesn't want to read any discs

it is a laser burn out and the unit needs replacing.
No need to contact Dell re this
The units are cheap[£20 or so from any E-tailer] and simple to replace- 4 screws three plugs.
If you decide to go that route the more info will come your way.
