Disk Boot Failure

  prince midas 22:38 02 May 07

My machine starts up sometimes & makes a clicking sound as it appears to be hunting before it finally loads.

Then sometimes it comes up with an error message
Disk Boot Failure & asks me to insert system disk & justs sits there.

What is the problem?

Sounds like your hard drive is dying, backup your 'stuff' before it's too late, just in case.

As MAJ says next time it does get to load backup everything that you don't want to loose to CD or DVD or better still if you have something like Acronis TI or Norton Ghost do a complete backup or just one of windows to DVD to save re-activation if you need a new HDD

If you can get into Windows, Run disc check By going to my compter a double click it, then right click C:\drive then tools Check disc and do a full check. you will need to restart comp if xp. Also MBR may be corrupt
