disconnecting network printer

  GM 11:11 23 Dec 07

I have a HP Deskjet 6840 printer connected to a router via a cable being used as a network printer. It is accessed via a Dimension 9200 Vista computer and was installed through the Vista software in add a network computer. Everything was working fine until for some reason every time we turn off the computer and on again the following morning the printer is offline. I cannot find a reason why this is now happening. Any help would be appreciated.

The printer was probably installed to a certain IP address. When you turn it off and on again it probably gets reassigned a new IP address by the router. (if you have DCHP on).

I don't think it's a good idea to turn off a network printer, we have two and keep them on all the time. If we turn off one of them it never remembers what IP address it used to have (the other does though)so I have to reinstall it!
