When I had Windows XP on my old drive there always used to be 2 tv screens on the right hand side of the taskbar (?) which I could use to disconnect from the internet - either in IE or Outlook Express. However, since transferring Windows XP to my new hard drive these have disappeared and the only way I can disconnect is by shutting down the computer. Help please.

Control Panel, Network Connections, Select (left click) the connection, Properties, General tab, make sure "Show icon in notification area when connected" is ticked.

Via e-mail: connected icon has disappeared from system tray even though it is ticked in the properties and is not hidden under customise
