I back up my PC to using Macrium Reflect to make an image of the drives to an external drive.

If W8 you can create a USB recovery drive see MS. Fairly sure that I used a similar procedure to create recovery discs for my ASUS.

If W8 then I recommend the USB route. It creates a system image and you get the option to copy the recovery partition to the USB drive.

In the process the USB drive is wiped but once completed you can add files to the USB drive. I add a text file with username, password hint and reminder of how to use the USB drive then put it away somewhere safe, away from computer.

Always thought that was a waste of a good USB stick when the price of two or three DVDs are next to nothing.
