Disappearing Word Text!

  Duncanf 12:30 28 Aug 04

I've been editing some writing in Word, for example, changing the word 'beat' to 'seat'
As I delete the 'b' and type in an 's' in its place, the next 'e' disappears and is replaced by the 's'. Gradually the whole line is disappearing! What have I done????
Thanks in anticipation.

You are in Overtype mode. At the bottom in a little box you will see "OVR". Double click it.

I think you do not have insert mode on.

If you look at the bottom of your word window you will see an 'OVR'. If this is greyed out then insert is on. If it is black then just press your insert key.

Beat me to it again (while I was typing) and, as ever, a better solution than mine :-)

Thanks VoG and cga. Never knew the 'insert' key existed or even the 'OVR'
I'm learning every day thanks to you guys!!
