Disappearing Items from Start Menu Win7

  Demora 09:01 29 Oct 09

Items that should be on my start menu (and were there after I installed win7) seem to have disappeared ie Windows Media Center and Windows DVD maker.

The only way at the moment to get media center working is to use the UGLY gadget.

How do I get these back Please.

Try opening them in all programs and they should then go into you start menu.

Once you get them back into start menu try right clicking them and it gives you the option of pinning them to the start menu.I would imagine that they would then stay there unless you shift them.

Or maybe right click taskbar.properties.Start menu. And make sure both boxes are ticked.
That should get them into the Start menu when you open them from all programs.

I think what you are seeing, is Recently Used. Right click on an Icon you want and select "Pin to Start Menu" It will stay there.

Nope. 'Start Menu.....All Programs' Not appearing. I've looked in the Control Panel Programmes and its enabled there. BUT not showing on start.

Try a system file scan All Programs> Accessories>
CMD Prompt> Right click> Run as Administrator> at the prompt type sfc /scannow and hit Enter

Will it open if you press the windows logo on the laptop.

Try open 'My computer', Right Click and Explore, Program Files

This will show you all the programs on your system, including some you thought you had deleted.

Open the folder and find the 'Run' application.
Create shortcut to desktop.
