First things first Im using windows XP pro and the culprit is a USB ISDN adapter which BT kindly gave when they installed BT home highway.
The problem is that when i bootup it cannot detect the usb modem, all the drivers and software that came with the ISDN is installed so is the updated drivers and software from bt's website.
Sometimes if i unplug the usb cable and plug it back in again that works fine however it has started to get worse where ill have done that and it cannot detect what the usb device is installed so im at the point where im running out of options as to how to fix the problem and perhaps getting a PCI ISDN Adpater instead has anyone got any recomendations on any?

Try the BT Speedway PCI card---windows XP has its own drivers for this card.
